In 2000, an initiative took place to choose the new 7 Wonders of the Modern World from a selection of 200 existing monuments. The popularity poll was led by Canadian-Swiss Bernard Weber and organized by the New7Wonders Foundation based in Zurich, Switzerland, with winners announced on 7 July 2007 in Lisbon.

If you haven’t been in those places, book your tickets and get ready to come face-to-face with spectacular wonders!

Colosseum – Rome, Italy

Chichen Itza – Yucatán, Mexico

Machu Picchu – Cusco Region, Peru

Taj Mahal – Agra, Uttar Pradesh, India

Stavanger: the beautiful city of Norway [pics]

The third largest city of Norway is considered the capital of the country’s oil. Stavanger is located on the southwest coast and it is considered one of the fastest growing cities in the second half of the 20th century.

Its name probably comes from a cove now called Vågen.

The city combines modern architecture with 18th century buildings and the port is the commercial center of the region.

Visitors can wander the old town with its picturesque cobblestone pavements, whitewashed wooden houses and the market square.

Major attractions are Norwegian Petroleum Museum, Archaeological and Naval Museum housed in an old merchant’s house in Nedre Strandgate region.

Tower Valberg is located on the hilltop behind the colorful buildings in the harbor, where it can move up to take some pictures of the city from above.
